Kelechi Iheanacho Breaks Premier League Record After Scoring Against Chelsea

By Olamide Oyetunji - Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has set a new record in the English Premier League by becoming the first player to score every day of the week.

The 24-year-old Leicester City goal poacher was in the scoring act once again as Chelsea defeated the Foxes by 2-1 inside the Stamford Bridge.

After a poor display during the FA Cup final where Leicester City overpowered Chelsea by 1-0, Brendan Rodgers benched Kelechi Iheanacho as the fight for UEFA Champion League qualification continues.

Chelsea had their breakthrough in the second half of the tight encounter with goals from Antonio Rudiger and a penalty kick by Italian midfielder Jorginho.

The Super Eagles talismanic figure came into the fray in the 60th minute and he made an impact with less than 15 minutes to go after receiving a pass from Wilfred Ndidi.

Kelechi Iheanacho showed a great composure to finish beyond Edouard Mendy in Chelsea goal with his 19th goal of an outstanding season.

The former Manchester City star becomes the first player in Premier League history to score a goal on all seven days of the week within a single season in the competition.
