Rohr Replaces Injured Midfielder With Defender

By Olamide Oyetunji - The manager of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr has made an adjustment to the squad of invited players for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone.

Denmark based midfielder Frank Onyeka has been withdrawn as he suffered an injury playing for his club over the weekend and has confirmed that he won't be available for the double header

Frank Onyeka who made his national team debut in the 0-1 defeat to the Desert Foxes of Algeria in October and he is one of the few Nigerians competing in the UEFA Champions League this season.

Former Kano Pillars defensive player Shehu Abdullahi has been removed from standby and subsequently added to the team at the expense of the injured Onyeka.

Shehu Abdullahi is capable of playing multiple roles including the defensive midfield position but the addition has added to the long list of defenders in the squad.

In total, the Franco-German manager has called up 24 players for the double header African Cup of Nations qualifiers against the Leone Stars of Sierra-Leone.

The camp in Benin City will welcome some of the players today while it is uncertain if Kenneth Omeruo will be part of the party due to the injury he sustained last week.
