Tottenham Hotspur announced the signing of Wolves right back Doherty

By Edikan Akpan - Tottenham Hotspur have now officially announced the signing of right-back Matt Doherty from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It has been made known by Lilywhites that Doherty has signed a four year contract that will keep him at the club until 2024.

Matt Doherty adds to Spurs’ list of third senior signing of the summer after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg who joined from Southampton and goal keeper Joe Hart signed on a free transfer.

Miguel Delaney, The Independent journalist revealed earlier this week that Spurs would be paying an initial £12m for Doherty, which could rise to £16m after add-ons.

The Irish man has risen through the divisions with Wolves during his ten season spell at the club, featuring in League One, the Championship, and the Premier League. Doherty has featured in 302 appearances and has registered 28 goals to his name.

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Levy was able to eventually negotiate a transfer fee with Wolverhampton Wanderers for Doherty of just £13.4 million with no add-ons - [Alasdair Gold]

This news follows the sale of right-back Kyle Walker-Peters to Southampton and the rumours that Serge Aurier may also be on his way out of North London.
