Arsenal Coach hails Ilechukwu’s appointment as Heartland coach

By Taiwo Ibrahim - Arsenal Soccer School coach in Dubai, Marcellinus Anyanwu has hailed the appointment of Fidelis Ilechukwu as the new head coach of Heartland football club of Owerri.
Fidelis Ilechukwu left NPFL side, MFM FC after spending thirteen years at the Lagos-based club.

Kamara as he is fondly called was unveiled on Monday as the new head coach of the Naze Millionaires.

Anyanwu said in an exclusive interview with Sportivation that  Ilechukwu’s appointment will restore the good old days back to the Owerri based club .

“It is a right step in the right direction.

Heartland is a traditional club, a house hold club in Nigeria and Africa, with the appointment of Ilechukwu they will bounce back again”

“A club that has produced stars like Kanu Nwanwko, Uche Okechukwu, and Ben Iroha.”

Marcellinus Anyanwu and Fidelis Ilechukwu both worked as assistant coaches at MFM under Nduka Ugbade.
Fidelis Ilechukwu at his unveiling as the new coach of Heartland FC, “Ilechukwu is a great coach he was able to prove himself at MFM despite limited resources, I am confident he will do even better at Heartland."

“He is an intelligent guy, easy going and someone that has  passion for the job.”

The Former MFM FC assistant coach also praised the Super Eagles for winning the bronze medal at the just concluded African Cup Of Nations while urging the NFF and the Super Eagles’ coaching crew to beef up the goalkeeping position.

Anyanwu popularly referred to as ‘Marcelo Lippi’ holds a Diploma Certificate in coaching and Training from NIS, he also has an International coaching certificate from the English FA and the Italian FA.
