Former Super Falcons forward, Patience Avre is the latest warrior to commend the Nigeria Women's National team for their impressive display in their last Group A game against France.
In a chat with Nigeria Football Fans Forum ; Avre singled out the Super Falcons defence for frustrating the French team.
"The team played very compact. The defense was strong today especially the left and right backs.
"Okeke(Chidinma) and Ngozi Ebere cut off France wing play and made their wingers ineffective as such reduced their scoring ability.
Because the strength of the French girls is their ability to send dangerous crosses into their opponent box, but the Nigerian girls cut off the French wing. However, the same cannot be said of the midfield and the forward. The Nigerian trio(Francisca Ordega, Desire Oparanozie and Asisat Oshoala) was nowhere to be seen today. We had no offensive power."
However, the 43-year-old who was a member of the Super Falcons class of 99' and also the youngest Nigerian to score a FIFA Women's World Cup goal concluded by sharing her most unforgettable World Cup experience in relation to the Falcons game against France.
"The game seemed like a replay of Nigeria versus Brazil in the 99 world cup, when Nigeria came back from 2 goals down to tie the game, only for the referee to send out Patience Avre with a red card and Brazil got a free kick that sent us home."
