Namibia defender Charles Hambira scored a stunning injury time goal as Namibia shocked the Ivory Coast with a 1-0 victory in their opening Chan match in Marrakesh last night.
Two minutes into injury time right back Riaan Hanamub sent in a pin point cross and Hambira rose high to head the ball past the Ivory Coast goalie into the net.
It was a thrilling end to a match where Namibia more than held their own against the mighty Ivorians.
Petrus Shitembi had a great match and shot narrowly wide early on, while Junius Theophelus pressurised the Ivorians' defence with some strong runs.
Ivory Coast winger William came close shortly after the break, but Namibia's defence stood firm throughout although Hambira also got a yellow card for a foul.
In the closing stages substitutes Itamunua Keimuine and Panduleni Nekundi both missed great chances to score, but Hambira saved their blushes with his winner in the 92nd minute.
