Isaac Success Heading To Segunda Division

Watford attacker Isaac Success is in talks with Spanish second division side Real Valladolid, according to reports in Spain.

The former club record signing is yet to play in the Premier League this season, having missed two months of action with a knee problem.

Marco Silva was complimentary of Success two weeks ago and played down talk of him leaving, adding the injury had come at the worst time and just has he looked to be hitting his best form.

He was subsequently in the squad for the games with Burnley and Crystal Palace, before dropping out on Saturday, but on the whole Success has flattered to deceive in his 18-months at Vicarage Road; he has spent plenty of time out injured, but when he has been fit has struggled to break into the side.

Walter Mazzarri was frustrated at what he felt was a lack of professionalism, something Silva says he has not had an issue with, although he was splashed across the front page of the Sun on Sunday earlier this season, after an incident with three prostitutes.

Silva would be reluctant to let Success move on without bringing in at least one other forward in, however, given the lack of depth in that position.

Nordin Amrabat's unexpected departure on Spain's deadline day, which was one day later than Britain's, angered Silva as he bemoaned his shortage of wide players.

Valladolid are a club with plenty of links to Watford currently, with five players on loan in their B side and Sulayman Marreh, a Gambian midfielder, playing for their first team.

But they are in the second tier of Spanish football which, given Success starred for Granada in La Liga prior to joining Watford, would be a real backwards step in his career.

However, his lack of football since leaving Granada would act as a warning for any potential suitors in top leagues across Europe which is surely what he would prefer and his injury record is not good either.

Success also made his senior debut for Nigeria in March against Senegal and will have an eye on making their World Cup squad, which he will not do if he is not playing regular football and that could be a factor in looking elsewhere, at least temporarily.

The reports suggest it would be a loan move until the end of the season, if it did go through.
