Observations & Reservations After the Double Header

After the round four encounter between the reigning Champions of African football Cameroon and the Super Eagles of Nigeria that ended in a 1-1 draw,Olamide Sunday Oyetunji will always have somethings to say.

★Before the two legs, any Nigerian will take the four points without looking back and we must give kudos to the NFF for putting things in place, Akwa Ibom state Government for hosting and motivating the team and the Super Eagles led by Coach Gernot Rohr for putting the Bafana Bafana shameful show behind them.

●Leon Balogun is making name for himself on the African soil and we could say he is one of the top 5 defenders on the Continent of Africa.

●Victor Moses is peaking at the right time, the Chelsea wing-back is a future African footballer of the year and should be shortlisted alongside Pierre-Emerick Emiliano François Aubameyang,Mohamed Salah Ghaly,Sadio Mané for the big African award later in the year.

●Ogenyi Onazi is extremely underrated by Nigerians, Eddy is great at closing down players within the backline allowing Balogun and Ekong to take take risk of running forward to attack long balls and he also offer them the opportunity of playmaking from the defence.

●John Obi Mikel is a player like no other, Personality, Leadership, Presence, Maturity in Skills like Jay Jay Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu in their thirties. It gladdens my heart that Nigerians are beginning to appreciate him.

The former Chelsea midfielder is now surrounded by galaxies unlike his first years with the national team where he was playing with majorly average players. 6goals and around 25assists for the Super Eagles are no fluke.

■German Touch: Credits must be given to Coach Gernot Rohr for his match Plans and the shape of the team,it's the first time in a while to see a Super Eagles with positional disciplines and utmost concentration for 90minutes.

●Ekong and Balogun are developing a solid partnership and Chemistry.

Balogun as the Left Sided Centre Back is the heart of our defence, very quick, harmless appearance but very tough, aware of the full-backs especially the complicated Elderson Echiejile.

Leon is comfortable on the ball with Vision, tackling ability with Positioning sense.

While Ekong on the other hand is a strong defender, His passing play is far from perfect, always nervous under pressure and relishes the opportunity to send a long ball.

Great recovery energy like he did when he beautifully covered for the more adventurous Balogun to force a corner in what could have been a very dangerous play for Cameroon on Monday.

●Odion Ighalo played his best matches in the green and white.

He ran the Channels very well with Beautiful foot-works but he need to be bring his wingers into play just like Brown Ideye, those little balls behind the opposition defenders could decide matches.

■Some Advice and Questions For Coach Rohr

Playing the Same starting eleven within three days was a wrong move, the players played their hearts out on Friday and never recovered.

The defence and midfield could cope but the three attackers struggled.

Starting Nwakaeme in the place of Ighalo, Etebo in the place of Simon thereby adding a fourth man in Midfield as support for Mikel, Onazi and Ndidi while John Ogu in the place of one of Ndidi or Onazi could have spoiled the predictability, game plan and Calculations of Cameroonians.

They gas out after 45minutes While Iheanacho, Musa and some other familiar faces mustn't always be choice off the bench.

When are we going to see Tyronne Ebuehi in competitive action?

Is John Ogu just an initiation anchor in the team? How good is Uche Agbo?

Some group of players also need to feel the groove especially when the team is enjoying a 3-0 lead!
