Kampala Dyed Inside Rivers Pool

Caf Confederations cup reaches matchday 4 of the group stage this midweek as Rivers United welcome Kampala City Council for an important encounter after losing the first leg 2-1 in faraway Uganda.
The Yakubu Gowon Stadium was waterlogged due to heavy downpours of over 24hours before kickoff but the stadium managers were able to sort it out to a manageable state.

The home team started the match on a good note when Bolaji Sakin's Corner-kick was turned in by an onrushing Bernard Ovoke from close range with 54seconds on the clock. Rivers doubled their advantage on 15th minutes courtesy of Frederick Obomate as he finishes off his a smart interplay with Assist from Ovoke. Rivers United wasted some opportunities with Ovoke the biggest culprit before Geoffrey Serunkuuma struck for the visitors at the stroke of half time to halve the deficit. The away team had a better second half and were prevented from levelling the scoreline on occasions by Goalkeeper Akande and tough defender Olalekan while Kavuma was booked twice in quick successions as KCCA finished the match with numerical disadvantage to ensure that Rivers drowned Kampala on a soaked pitch.

The victory takes Rivers United points hull to six in four matches. Club Africain will play FUS Rabat later tonight as the battle for Supremacy gets hotter.
