Chile, Germany Share Spoils

Group B of the Fifa Confederations cup was the centre of focus on thursday night as the likely top of the table decider took centre stage.
South American Champions Chile and World Championships Germany played out a lively 1-1 draw, with the point earned in front of over 38,000 supporters in Kazan maintaining the pair's spots as top and second side respectively in FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 Group B.
Alexis Sanchez's opener - after Arsenal teammate Shkodran Mustafi had gifted possession to La Roja - was a landmark goal: the 400th in the history of the tournament and the strike that took the No7 past Marcelo Salas to become the top-scoring Chilean of all time with 38goals.

The South Americans' high press perturbed Germany in the first half, and Eduardo Vargas thundered an effort off the crossbar with Marc-Andre Ter Stegen beaten. Germany made them pay for not extending their lead, when Lars Stindl converted Jonas Hector's cross for his second goal of the tournament.

After the break, Chile continued their attempts to press Germany into submission but lost their tempo towards the end as the game meandered to a draw. Cameroon played 1-1 with Australia earlier in the day. Germany will battle the African Champions Cameroon in the last group match on Sunday while Australia will try to March the fire power of Chile.
