Four Nigerians in the starting lineup for KAA Gent as Moses Simon Score brace in Belgium

KAA Gent of Belgium on Sunday featuring four Nigerians in their starting lineup recorded their first victory in the Belgium First Division A Playoff 1 against Club Brugge with a 2-1 win.

In the Playoff 1 match, four Nigerians were in the starting lineup for KAA Gent namely; Moses Simon, Samuel Kalu Ojim, Anderson Esiti, and William Troost-Ekong with former Nigeria U17 midfielder Rabiu Ibrahim on the bench.

20 year old Brazilian Wesley Moraes Ferreira Da Silva opened scoring in the 8th minute of the encounter for Club Brugge from a rebounds from the wood work. 17 minutes later Moses Simon got the equaliser for KAA Gent from Samuel Kalu cross from the right flank before scoring the winning goal in the 45+1 minutes from the spot.

It was a different case for William Troost-Ekong as he was sent off in the 50th minute after receiving two yellow cards, the first in the 47th minute and the second in 50th minute, reducing Hein Vanhaezebrouck's men to ten, but the ten men were strong enough to defend their 2-1 lead for the remaining 40 minutes. The fifth Nigerian dressed for the encounter Rabiu Ibrahim was an unused substitute as Hein Vanhaezebrouck's men recorded their first victory in Belgium First Division A Playoff 1.
