Unless there is a change, the qualifiers for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations should begin in March next year, according to a calendar obtained by Kickoff.com.
This would see the campaign begin just about a month after the conclusion of the 2017 edition in Gabon.
It is believed that in a bid to a accommodate the remainder of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, which resume in August next year, and given the tight international calendar, the opening games will be played in March, while a second round of games will follow in June.
This means fans on the continent will no longer have to wait nine months for the World Cup qualifiers to begin before enjoying the exploits of their National teams
Continental body CAF, is yet to make an official announcement about the qualifiers though and it is expected that failure to qualify for two consecutive Afcon will make Super Eagles to be part of the first round.
