The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has handed down a series of sanctions to Nasarawa United following multiple breaches of the league’s Framework and Rules during their match against Plateau United on Sunday.
According to an official update from the NPFL, the Lafia-based club failed to provide adequate and effective security, which resulted in unauthorized individuals gaining access to restricted areas. These individuals went on to harass the visiting team, Plateau United, as well as match officials.
In a further violation of league rules, supporters of Nasarawa United were involved in a violent disturbance that led to an assault on Plateau United players, including Vincent Temitope, who was reportedly attacked with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
As a result of these incidents, the NPFL has taken the following disciplinary actions:

Venue Ban: Nasarawa United will now play all remaining home matches of the #NPFL25 season at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe.
-
Fines:
-
N1 million for failing to provide adequate security.
-
N1 million for failing to ensure proper conduct of supporters.
-
N3 million for persistent breaches of the NPFL Framework and Rules.
-
N1 million as compensation and to cover medical expenses for Vincent Temitope.
Total Fine: N6 million.

-
Security Measures: The club has been ordered to submit a detailed and effective matchday security and crowd control plan to the NPFL board. This is a prerequisite for any future return to their home ground, Lafia City Stadium.
-
Legal Action: Nasarawa United must identify the individual responsible for the assault on Vincent Temitope and present evidence of legal prosecution to the league authorities.
The club has been granted a 48-hour window from the date of the notice to file an appeal against the imposed sanctions.
These strict penalties underscore the NPFL's commitment to ensuring safety, discipline, and professionalism across all match venues in the ongoing season.
