Manchester City Extend Dominance Over Everton With Late 2-0 Victory at Goodison Park

Manchester City continued their remarkable Premier League dominance over Everton with a 2-0 victory at Goodison Park, extending their unbeaten run against the Toffees to 17 matches. The win also marked City’s ninth consecutive league triumph at the historic Merseyside ground, with their last defeat there dating back to January 2017.

Despite a slow start, Pep Guardiola's side showed their trademark composure and clinical edge in the final stages of the game. With the scoreline goalless heading into the final 15 minutes, it was young midfielder O'Reilly who broke the deadlock in the 84th minute, arriving late into the box to convert a low cross from Nunes.

Substitute Mateo Kovacic sealed the win deep into injury time, calmly slotting home from a Gundogan pass to make it two goals in as many games for the Croatian. The victory strengthens City's push for a top-four finish and builds further momentum ahead of their upcoming clash against Aston Villa at the Etihad on Tuesday.

Everton, meanwhile, put in a disciplined defensive performance for the majority of the match and had moments where they could’ve taken the lead—most notably through a Tarkowski header that struck the post and a blocked Doucoure shot. However, their struggles in front of goal continue; the Toffees have now failed to score in 14 Premier League matches this season, the joint-most alongside Leicester.

David Moyes' side has managed just two wins in their last 10 league games and will look to regroup ahead of their trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea next weekend.

City’s expected goals tally of 2.09 compared to Everton’s 0.93 painted a clear picture of the attacking balance, with the champions-elect proving once again why they remain one of the most feared sides in English football.
