Bayern Dominate Before Near Meltdown
The hosts took full control early on, with Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry finding the net, while Harry Kane added a clinical headed brace to put Bayern in a commanding position. At 4-0 up, Thomas Tuchel's side appeared to be cruising toward their sixth consecutive league win.
However, Holstein Kiel, who had yet to win away from home this season, refused to go down without a fight. Finn Porath pulled one back in the 76th minute, a goal that initially seemed nothing more than a consolation.
Then came a stoppage-time shocker for Bayern, as Steven Skrzybski struck twice in quick succession to set up an intense finale. With the visitors suddenly just one goal behind, panic set in for the Bundesliga giants, but they ultimately held on to take all three points.
Bayern Extend Lead at the Top
Statistically, Bayern's dominance was reflected in their 3.34 expected goals (xG) compared to Kiel’s 1.88 xG. Despite their late wobble, the Bavarians' sixth straight league victory moves them nine points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.
Bayern will now turn their attention to their next fixture at home against Werder Bremen on Friday, while Kiel will look to regroup when they travel to face Bochum two days later.
