Leicester Stun Tottenham with Dramatic Comeback Win

Leicester City ended their woeful run of seven consecutive league defeats in stunning fashion with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. A rapid four-minute turnaround at the start of the second half was enough for the Foxes to secure their first away win in London in over a year, while Spurs' miserable form continued with their fourth consecutive Premier League defeat.

Tottenham took the lead in the first half, but their advantage was quickly erased in a disastrous start to the second period. Just 58 seconds after the restart, Jamie Vardy turned in Bobby De Cordova-Reid's low cross from close range to level the score. Moments later, teenager Bilal El Khannouss unleashed a stunning strike from distance, finding the bottom corner and putting Leicester in front.

Despite producing a modest 1.04 xG, Spurs had chances to salvage something from the game, with Dejan Kulusevski, Pedro Porro, and Radu Drăgușin all squandering golden opportunities to equalise. Leicester, however, created the better chances overall, finishing with an xG of 1.50, and their resolute defending ensured they held on for a priceless victory.

The defeat marked a new low for Tottenham, who are now winless in their last seven Premier League matches (D1 L6)—their longest such run since a nine-game stretch between May and October 2008. Adding to their misery, this was the first time Spurs had lost at home to a team on a seven-game losing streak since falling to Notts County in 1912.

For Leicester, the win was a long-awaited relief. It was their first Premier League victory in nine attempts and their first win in London since a 1-0 triumph over West Ham United in November 2022. The Foxes had conceded two or more goals in each of their last six visits to the capital but finally found defensive solidity when it mattered most.

The result lifts Leicester out of the relegation zone, moving them above Ipswich Town and Wolves, while Tottenham remain mired in their slump, struggling to find answers under mounting pressure.

With momentum finally on their side, Leicester will look to build on this result as they continue their fight for survival. Tottenham, on the other hand, face a critical juncture in their season, with their top-flight campaign teetering on the brink of disaster.
