Stade Rennais FC has finalized the signing of midfielder Seko Fofana from Al-Nassr for a fee of €20 million. The 29-year-old Ivorian international completed his medical examination on December 30, 2024, and is set to sign a contract extending until 2029.
Fofana, who previously made a significant impact at RC Lens, moved to Al-Nassr in the summer of 2023 but faced challenges adapting to the Saudi Pro League. A subsequent loan to Al-Ettifaq provided limited respite, prompting his return to France. His experience in Ligue 1 is expected to bolster Rennes' midfield as they aim to improve their standing in the league.
In addition to Fofana, Rennes is actively pursuing goalkeeper Brice Samba from RC Lens. The clubs have reached an agreement in principle, with a transfer fee exceeding €14 million. Samba, 30, is anticipated to sign a contract running until 2029, providing a long-term solution between the posts for Rennes.
These strategic acquisitions underscore Rennes' commitment to strengthening their squad as they strive for higher achievements in Ligue 1.
