Customs, CNS Win 2024 CGC Volleyball Premier League Titles

The 2024 Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League concluded in dramatic fashion in Abuja, with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) emerging as champions in the women’s and men’s categories, respectively.


Women’s Category: NCS Clinches Victory


The women’s competition was a showcase of intense volleyball action, with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) emerging as the dominant force. NCS sealed the championship with an impressive 63 points, outpacing second-place finishers CNS Spikers, who ended with 59 points. The tight battle for the podium saw the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) finishing in third with 58 points.


In a season that saw close competition, the COAS Spikers finished in fourth place with 45 points, while the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Rockets secured fifth place with 41 points. The middle of the pack featured LifeCamp (6th place with 29 points) and Benue Queens (7th place, tied with LifeCamp but ranked lower on a tiebreaker).


Kada Emeralds finished in eighth place with 25 points, while Olalomi Royal VC and Anambra Queens completed the top ten, placing ninth and tenth with 15 and 14 points, respectively.


Unfortunately, Nigeria Immigration Service and Kwara United VC were relegated, finishing in the 11th and 12th positions, respectively.


Men’s Category: CNS Spikers Edge Out Offa VC


In the men’s competition, CNS Spikers claimed the title with a hard-fought 56 points, narrowly defeating the defending champions, Offa VC, who finished just three points behind in second place with 53 points. Kada VC had a strong showing, securing third place with 44 points.


The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) came in fourth with 43 points, while COAS Spikers wrapped up their campaign in fifth place with 42 points. Nigeria Customs Service rounded out the top six in the men’s category with 37 points.


Sunshine Spikers (7th place with 35 points) and the Nigeria Correctional Service (8th place, also with 35 points) were locked in a tie for points, followed by Kano Pillars (9th with 19 points) and NSCDC (10th with 18 points).


In the men’s category, Nigeria Immigration Service and Spartan Spikers were relegated after finishing in 11th and 12th places, respectively.


The 2024 CGC Volleyball Premier League was marked by thrilling contests and a high level of competition across both the men’s and women’s categories. The Nigeria Customs Service and CNS Spikers stand out as the champions, having demonstrated skill, resilience, and determination throughout the tournament. As the league season comes to a close, all eyes will be on the relegated teams as they look to regroup and make their return in future seasons.
