Former Nigerian international and ex-Enyimba right-back Yusuf Muhammed has firmly dismissed rumors regarding his financial stability, calling them “fake news.” The retired footballer, also known as "Yusuf Jiji," responded to recent online reports suggesting he was facing financial hardship, asserting that the information was entirely untrue.
Muhammed clarified the situation in a recent statement, saying, “I’m not aware of this information that I was suffering with financial stability; this is not true. I don’t know where the story came from.” The former player, who now runs a successful business in Kano, Nigeria, emphasized that he remains financially stable and focused on his post-football career.
Despite rumors circulating on social media about his alleged financial troubles—claiming he had squandered his earnings, accumulated debt, and faced hardship due to lavish spending—Muhammed’s statements disprove these claims. These reports attempted to paint a picture of a former player struggling financially, a narrative Muhammed has now firmly corrected.
During his playing days, Muhammed enjoyed a solid career representing Nigeria in prominent tournaments, including the 2004 Olympic Games and the 2006 African Cup of Nations. He also played for some of Nigeria’s top clubs, including Enyimba FC and Kano Pillars. Since his retirement, Muhammed has channeled his energy into business ventures in Kano, which he continues to manage successfully.
With his recent statements, Muhammed hopes to end the misinformation surrounding his financial status, reiterating his stability and success in business after football.
