In a fiercely contested pre-World Cup friendly match, Nigeria's U-17 women's team, the Flamingoes, held their ground to secure a 1-1 draw against Mexico’s U-17 side. The warm-up encounter, held ahead of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in the Dominican Republic, saw both teams display grit and determination, offering a glimpse of their readiness for the global stage.

The Flamingoes took the lead in the 33rd minute through an excellent strike by Faridat Abdulkareem, who made the most of her opportunity to put Nigeria ahead. However, the lead was short-lived as Mexico equalized just nine minutes later, courtesy of Ana Salas, who found the back of the net in the 42nd minute to level the scoreline.

Despite several attempts from both sides to secure a winning goal, the match ended in a stalemate, with both teams satisfied with the hard-fought result. The match provided valuable experience for the Flamingoes as they fine-tune their strategies and build team cohesion ahead of the highly anticipated FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
