Nigerian Discus Duo Exit Early from Paris Olympics 2024

In a disappointing turn of events for Team Nigeria, Chioma Onyekwere and Obiageri Amaechi have been eliminated from the women’s discus event at the Paris Olympics 2024, failing to advance past the first round.

Chioma Onyekwere, who had high hopes for the competition, ended her campaign in 15th place with a throw of 60.78 meters. Meanwhile, Obiageri Amaechi finished just behind her in 16th place with a mark of 45.45 meters. Both athletes fell short of the mark needed to progress to the final round of the event.

This early exit marks a setback for Nigeria’s track and field team, as the women’s discus will have no representation from the country in the final. With both Onyekwere and Amaechi unable to make it through, Team Nigeria’s hopes for a discus medal at these Games have been dashed.

The absence of a Nigerian presence in the women’s discus final underscores a challenging day for the team, as they seek to regroup and focus on upcoming events in the Olympics.
