Paris Saint-Germain lifted the Coupe de France for a record 15th time, holding off a late push from Lyon to secure a 2-1 victory at Stade Pierre-Mauroy. PSG did the hard work in the first half, taking a two-goal lead within the first 34 minutes thanks to close-range finishes from Ousmane Dembele and Fabian Ruiz.
Lyon, initially offering little resistance, reemerged from the interval with renewed intensity. They utilized set-pieces effectively, with Jake O’Brien halving the deficit just before the hour mark, nodding Rayan Cherki’s corner past Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Although a number of substitutions disrupted the flow of the match, Lyon managed to carve out two more chances from corners in the closing stages. O’Brien went close again, and Nicolás Tagliafico forced an incredible save from Donnarumma.
Despite PSG only scoring twice, with an expected goals (xG) of 3.05 compared to Lyon’s 0.56, it was enough to secure the trophy. This victory marks PSG’s second trophy of the campaign, following their Ligue 1 triumph.
Congratulations to Paris Saint-Germain on their historic win!
