In a captivating encounter at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Confluence Queens emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over Heartland Queens in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super Six tournament.
The game showcased a resilient Confluence Queens side determined to bounce back from their opening day defeat. Merit Offor proved instrumental, breaking the deadlock in the 76th minute with a well-taken penalty, marking her second goal of the tournament.
The Lokoja-based team further solidified their lead late in the game, courtesy of a brilliant header from substitute Feranmi Odutade in the 87th minute, extending Confluence Queens' advantage to a comfortable two-goal cushion.
Heartland Queens, despite their efforts, were unable to find a response, as Confluence Queens' defense held firm to secure the victory and claim their first three points of the 2024 NWFL Super Six.
