The People's Elephants on Tuesday defeated Heartland FC of Owerri by 1-0 in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 30 to move to the second position on the table.

Ekene Awazie brilliant strike in the 35th minute of the game earned Enyimba International a vital victory at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba.

After the win in Aba, the People's Elephants are now second on the log with 51 points, three points separate Enyimba and the league leaders Rangers International of Enugu.

With just eight games to end the 2023/24 League season, Enyimba International are now one of the contenders for the 2023/34 NPFL title, having recorded 51 points and are three points away from the current league leaders Rangers International.
