The Federal Government of Nigeria has extended Eid-el-Fitr holiday to Thursday for all Muslims to celebrate the successful competition of this year fasting.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Interior and signed by the Permanent Secretary Dr Aishetu Gogo Ndayako on Tuesday, "The Federal Government has approved Thursday 11th April, 2024 as an additional public holiday to celebrate this year's Eid -El-Fitr.
The Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, while congratulating the muslim Ummah for a successful completion of a month of spiritual rejuvenation, reiterates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's (GCFR) firm commitment to providing a safe and prosperous Nigeria for all to thrive.”
Recall, the Ministry of Interior on Monday had earlier announced Tuesday and Wednesday as public holiday, but the crescent moon could not be spotted on Monday, hence, another announcement was made on Tuesday to extend the holiday to Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Sultan of Sokoto has declared Wednesday as Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
