Nigeria's AFCON Squad: Antwerp Midfielder replace injured Ndidi, as Iheanacho hope to join the Team

Official: Alhassan Yusuf who plays as a midfielder for Belgian First Division A club Royal Antwerp has replaced injured Leicester City star Wilfred Ndidi in the Super Eagles 2023 AFCON Squad.

The Leicester City midfielder picked up an injury few days to the kickoff of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d'Ivoire, and has been excused from the tournament which kicks off from January 13th to February 11th, 2023.

Alhassan Yusuf who will replace Ndidi has been in a top form for his Belgian side in the 2023/24 season, and has been instrumental to their current 6th spot on the Belgian Pro League log. The midfielder was a 73rd minute substitute in Antwerp's 3-0 loss to Genk in Belgian Pro League Matchday 20 on Tuesday 26th December, 2023.

On the other hand, there is still hope that injured Kelechi Iheanacho will fully recover and join Super Eagles squad before the commencement of the tournament.
