U17 AFCON: Senegal thrash South Africa, earn Semi-final and World Cup Tickets

By Emmanuel Oladele - The Senegal U-17 National Team on Thursday thrashed their South African Counterparts by 5-0 in the quarter-final of the ongoing 2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers.

South Africa's Waylon Ramon Renecke and Benjamin John Peter Wallis scored two own goals in the 36th and 39th minute respectively to put Senegal ahead with a 2-0 lead. Five minutes later, Senegal forward Mamadou Sadio added to the Senegalese lead with a brilliant strike in the 44th minute, to end the first half with a 3-0 scoreline.

Amara Diouf added to the Senegal's tally in the second half with two superb goals in the 54th and 72nd minute respectively, to end the game on a 5-0 scoreline in favour of Senegal. See details below;
