By Emmanuel Oladele - Former Nigeria U20 midfielder Ifeanyi Mathew has joined Swiss side FC Zurich from Norwegian side Lillestrom SK. The 26-year-old signed a contract that will keep him at the club till the summer of 2025.
The Swiss side FC Zurich confirmed the signing on their official Twitter handle in a post which reads as follows; "the 26-year-old central midfielder Ifeanyi Mathew is moving to FC Zurich with immediate effect and has signed a contract until the summer of 2025."
Ifeanyi Mathew has played for El-Kanemi Warriors and Kano Pillars in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) before joining Lillestrom SK in 2016, where he signed a four-year deal. During his stay with the Norwegian side, he had a loan spell with Turkish side Osmanlispor in 2019.
Mathew's former club Lillestrom SK have also taken to their official Twitter handle to appreciate the central midfielder for his service at the club, in a tweet which reads as follows, "thank you so much for everything, Mathew."
