CAFCC: Rivers United depart Nigeria for Luanda, Angola

By Emmanuel Oladele - Nigeria representative in the CAF Confederation Cup Rivers United will depart Abuja, Nigeria for Luanda, Angola this afternoon via an Ethiopia Airline flight. The team will have a stopover at Addis Ababa.

The Portharcourt based team is expected to land in Angola on Friday, where they will face Motema Pembe of Democratic Republic of Congo in a CAF Confederation Cup Group Stage matchday 3 game, which hold on Sunday 26 February at the 11 de Novembro Stadium in Luanda, Angola.

Team's media officer, Charles Mayuku confirmed Rivers United's departure Update on the club social media page in a post which reads as follows; "Rivers United will depart the FCT Abuja, Nigeria for Luanda, Angola via Ethiopian airline flight at 1:25pm today, February 23, 2023 with stopover in Addis Ababa."

"The team's contingent is expected to arrive in Luanda, Angola on Friday."

Recall, Rivers United thrashed ASEC Mimosas by 3-0 in their CAF Confederation Cup matchday 2 game last Sunday, the team will hope to pick another three points when they face Motema Pembe this Sunday. Rivers United are currently second on Group B log with three points, behind Diables Noirs who currently top the group with four points. Motema Pembe and ASEC Mimosas are third and fourth respectively with two and one points.
