By Emmanuel Oladele - Ghanian Star Paul Acquah's lone goal earned Rivers United a vital win against DC Motema Pembe of DR Congo in Luanda on Sunday, in the CAF Confederation Cup Group Game. The game was played at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda, Angola, as CAF did not approve DC Motema Pembe's home ground.
The 27-year-old midfielder scored in the 53rd minute of the game after a goalless first half. Paul Acquah was quick to slot home the only goal of the game from a rebound, to earn Stanley Eguma's led side a vital three points away from home in CAF Confederation Cup Group Stage Matchday 3.
Rivers United were reduced to 10-man in the 42nd minute of the first half after Super Eagles defender Ebube Duru was red carded for a second yellow card, but does not stopped the Portharcourt based team from claiming the victory on Saturday.
After the 1-0 victory, Rivers United now top Group B of the CAF Confederation Cup with six points. In the second group B game played on Sunday, ASEC Mimosas beat Diables Noirs by 2-0. See the Current Group B Standings below;
