2023 FIFA WWC Play-offs: Portugal, Haiti qualify for World Cup, one more spot up for grabs

By Emmanuel Oladele - The 2023 FIFA Women's World Qualification (Inter-con federation play-offs) which commenced on the 18th of February 2023 is gradually coming to close with two teams already qualified for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Portugal and Haiti have already qualified for the world cup proper. The Ten Nations in the tournaments are; Portugal, Chile, Chinese Taipei, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, Paraguay, Haiti, Panama, Cameroon and Senegal.

Portugal qualified from Group A, after beating Cameroon by 2-1 in the final on Wednesday at the Waikato Stadium, Hamilton. Portugal will now compete in Group E of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

On the other hand, Haiti beat Chile by 2-1 in the final on Wednesday at the North Harbour Stadium in Auckland. Haiti will now compete in the Group D of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup. Haiti are qualifying for the tournament for the first time in the history of their Women's Football.

Meanwhile, there is still one more spot up for grabs in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup. Paraguay will face Panama in Group C Final at the Waikato Stadium, Hamilton on Thursday 2:00PM New Zealand Time (Thursday 2:00AM WAT). The winners will qualify for world cup and will compete in Group C of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup will hold from Thursday 20th July to Sunday 20th August, 2023 in Australia and New Zealand.
