Super Eagles Star Alex Iwobi sustain terrible ankle ligament injury in Everton FA Cup loss

By Emmanuel Oladele - Super Eagles and Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi has sustained a terrible ankle ligament injury in Everton's FA Cup 3-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Friday night.

Following a awkward tackle from Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia early in the second half, the Nigerian International fell awkwardly leading to a damage to his ankle's ligament, Iwobi left the pitch on a stretcher as he was unable to continue the game.

The 26-year-old will undergo a scan today's Saturday to ascertain the extent of the injury according to Everton's manager Frank Lampard.


Lampard while speaking on Iwobi's injury after the game at Old Trafford told Everton TV that, "We hope it's not too serious. 

"It is an ankle ligament injury, we hope it’s a lesser one. He will have a scan tomorrow to confirm."
