Bendel Insurance stun Former Champions Akwa United in NPFL Opener

By Emmanuel Oladele - Bendel Insurance of Benin returned to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after three years, 7 months and 19 days with a 2-0 stunning of former Champions Akwa United at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Sunday in the 2022/23 Season Opener.

Imade Osehenkhoe and Sarki Ismael scored respectively in the 38th and 41st minute of the first half to give Bendel Insurance a 2-0 lead at Half-time.

The second half begins with Akwa United dominating the game but were unable to find the back of the net for the whole of second half. Bendel Insurance played with determinations in the second half and were able to defend their 2-0 lead but were also unable to hit the back of the net.

After the regulation time, it's Akwa United 0-2 Bendel Insurance, so it ended at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Sunday in NPFL 2022/23 season opener.
