Violent Conducts in NPFL now attract three points deduction, not the usual N500,000 fine

By Emmanuel Oladele - Following the draw of the 2022/23 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Wednesday, Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairman Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye has warned clubs to shun every act of violence as the 2022/23 season kicks off .

The Chairman has revealed that there will be a three points deduction for clubs that will involve in any violent act, three points will be deducted from already earned points. Before now, violent conducts attracts a fine of NGN 500,000.00 most cases in the league, but it's no longer going to be business as usual. According to Hon. Elegbeleye, "Clubs have been informed to shun every act of violence during the course of the league. 

"Any club which engage in violent conducts will not be sanctioned with N500,000.00 as was the case in the past, but three points will be deducted as punishment.

We know what it means to have three points deducted from points already earned by a club in the league," Elegbeleye concluded.

The 2022/23 matchday 1 will hold on 8th January, 2022.
