"I am Sorry, Referee Didn't Cheat Us, Portugal Goal Isn't Offside" - Ghana Journalist Educates Angry Fans

By Olamide Oyetunji - Portugal defeated Ghana by 3-2 in a thrilling 2022 FIFA World Cup encounter on Thursday but the game didn't end without some controversies.

The dedicated supporters of Black Stars of Ghana are of the opinions that the centre referee and other match officials including the Video Assistance Referee are bias and sided the Europeans.

According to them, Cristiano Ronaldo simulated to win the penalty while the other two goals shouldn't have stood due to perceived marginal offside.

In the latest development, Ghanaian Sports Journalist Owuraku Ampofo has come out to vindicate the officials via his verified Facebook page.

"Finally got the evidence I was after. Leao wasn’t offside ladies and gentlemen.

"This is a screenshot from the automated offside detector. The machine is 100% accurate because there are microchips in the ball that detect exactly at what point the ball left Bruno’s foot so it’s the most accurate you can get.

"I’m sorry guys but it was a legitimate goal."

In another post, the TV3 presenter also discussed a potential red card which was overlooked by the Referee.

"9 out of 10 referees would have shown Alidu Seidu a second yellow card for that attempted headbutt on Joao Felix.

"Referee Ismail Elfath instead understood how big the stage was and spoke to the defender. Yes, the penalty was controversial but I don’t think Elfath was against us.
