Confirmed: Sadio Mane not out of World Cup yet, but will miss Saturday's Game against Schalke

By Emmanuel Oladele - Recent report going round the media revealed that Bayern Munich and Senegalese Forward Sadio Mane will miss the 2022 FIFA World Cup due to the injury he sustained in his club 6-1 win over Werder Bremen. Mane suffered a damage to the head of his right fibula, limping off during Tuesday's game.


Contrary to the current report, Mane is not out of the World Cup yet, but will miss Bayern's clash with Schalke on Saturday, further examination will be conducted in coming days.

According to the statement released by Bayern Munich on their official website, "Sadio Mane has suffered an injury to the head of his right fibula in FC Bayern's 6-1 win against Werder Bremen. Africa's Footballer of the Year will miss Saturday's game against Schalke. Further examinations will follow in the coming days.

FC Bayern is also in contact with the medical staff of the Senegalese Football Association," the club concluded.

The 30-year-old will be examine further in coming days to know the extent of his injury, which will also determine whether the Senegalese will miss the world cup or not.

If the former Liverpool star should miss the world cup, it will be a huge blow to Senegal and Africa. Senegal will kick off their Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup Campaign against the Netherlands on Monday 21st November, 2022.
