By Emmauel Oladele - The Nigeria U23 National Men's Football Team on Saturday beat Tanzania by 2-0 in a U23 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifying Game at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba in Ibadan. Timileyin Ogunniyi opened scoring for the Olympics Eagles in the 61st minute via a superb free kick after a goalless first half to give Nigeria the lead for the first time in the game.
In the 68th minute of the game, team's captain Success Makanjuola got Nigeria's second goal from the spot after a Tanzania defender brought down a Nigerian forward in his own area. The Nigeria U23 dominated the game from start to finish. The attacking power of Nigeria made the Tanzanians to sit back in their own area, thereby taking pressure off the Nigerian defence. The Nigeria U23 won the two legged encounter by 3-1 on aggregate. Recall, the first leg of the encounter in Dar es Salaam ended 1-1.
The Nigeria U23 having won this encounter by 3-1 on aggregate will now face Guinea U23 or Uganda U23 in the next round of the U23 AFCON qualifier.
