Nigeria's Flamingos show they are World Cup ready after thrashing Turkish Giants Galatasaray

By Emmanuel Oladele - The Nigeria U17 National Women's Team, the Flamingos showed they are world cup ready following their 3-1 thrashing of Turkish Giants Galatasaray Women in a friendly game in Kocaeli on Saturday as they continue their preparation for the upcoming India 2022 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup.

In the game, Opeyemi Ajakaye opened scoring for Nigeria in the 26th minute, eight minutes later, Edidiong Etim double Nigeria's lead in the thrilling encounter. Before half time, Galatasaray got their first goal via Ebru Topliv's strike in the 44th minute to end the first half with a 2-1 scoreline in favour of Nigeria U17 Women's side.

In the 77th minutes of the second half Edidiong Etim scored another goal to earn a brace in the game and to complet e the 3-1 thrashing of the Turkish Giants in Kocaeli, Turkey on Saturday. See details below;

The win shows the Flamingos are World cup ready, thrashing a top team in one of European Women's League will send some warnings to their world cup opponents. 

For the India 2022 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup, Nigeria is in Group B alongside, Germany, New Zealand and Chile.

The Flamingos will kick off their 2022 World Cup campaign with Germany on Tuesday 11th October 2022, at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao, before facing New Zealand and Chile in their subsequent Group games.

The India 2022 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup will hold from 11-30 October 2022, and a total of 32 games will be played in the tournament. It's the 7th edition of the tournament.
