European Champions Germany outclass Nigeria's Flamingos in 2022 FIFA U17 WWC Opening Day Game

By Emmanuel Oladele - The Nigeria U17 Women's Football Team on Tuesday afternoon were outclassed by European Champions Germany in their first game of the 2022 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup in India, 2-1 it ended in favour of the Germans.

Nigeria took the lead in the 30th minute of the first half via Miracle Usani free-kick to end the first half of the encounter with a 1-0 advantage.

In the second half, Germany got the equaliser after a well taken cross was lashed home by Svea Stoldt in the 49th minute. In the 61st minute, Mara Amber benefited from a superb counter attack to score Germany's winning goal.

Toward the end of the game, the Nigerians were looking exhausted, and were luck not to have conceded another goal.

Chile now top group B, following their 3-1 thrashing of New Zealand earlier today, though they shared the same point with Germany, but are better on goal difference. Nigeria is in third position on group B log, while New Zealand stays at the bottom of the table.

The Nigeria's Flamingos will hope to bounce back when they face New Zealand in their next game on Friday, 12:00 Noon (Nigeria Time).

After the entire game time, it Germany 2-1 Nigeria, so it ended at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Margao, India.
