By Emmanuel Oladele - Gallant Plateau United has bowed out of the CAF Champions League, following the outcome of the two legged fixture between the Peace Boys and Esperance of Tunisia.
Despite the 1-0 loss on Saturday in Tunisia, the result of the encounter stays in 2-2 on aggregate, but the Nigeria side lost on away goal. Recall, Tunisia side Esperance got an away goal in Abuja in their 2-1 loss during the first leg encounter. Plateau United were solid defensively in the second leg fixture until the referee awarded a controversial penalty to the home side, a decision that should have been adjudged as free-kick. The penalty was converted by Ben Romdhane in the 83rd minute to give Esperance a 1-0 win in the second leg.
At the end of the second leg, the game ended 2-2 on aggregate, but Esperance of Tunisia are through to the next round on away goal. Plateau United have now dropped to the CAF Confederation Cup. See detailed Result of the game below;
