Ghana's Black Galaxies beat Nigeria on Penalties to reach 2023 CHAN in Algeria

By Emmanuel Oladele - The Black Galaxies of Ghana on Saturday evening beat Nigeria's Super Eagles Team B in the second leg of 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN) Qualifier at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja. The Ghanaians won the game 4-5 on penalties after the two legged tie ended 2-2 on aggregate at Full-time in Abuja.

Recall, the first leg of the encounter ended 2-0 in Cape Coast, but the Nigerians were able to overturn the scoreline courtesy of goals from the duo of Zulkifilu Muhammed and Chijioke Akuneto in the 76th and 94th minute respectively before the game went straight into penalty shootout.

The Ghanaians are through to the 2023 African Nations Championship in Algeria which hold in January next year. For the second time in 2022, Ghana has caused Nigeria another setback, recall, the Black Stars also prevented the Super Eagles from going to 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Nigeria will not feature in the next CHAN in Algeria.
