Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau emerge as New President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)

By Emmanuel Oladele - Zamfara Football Association Chairman Ibrahim Musa Gusau has emerged as President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). In the Nigeria Football Federation Presidential Election held at the annual general assembly and elective congress of the Federation in Benin City, Edo State on Friday 30th September, 2022. Gusau won the main election with 21 votes ahead of former NFF vice president Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi and League Management Company (LMC) boss Alhaji Shehu Dikko who have 12 and 6 votes respectively. There was a re-run as winner can only emerge with at least 22 votes. See the main election results below;


NFF MAIN ELECTION RESULTS

• Ibrahim Musa Gusau: 21 votes

• Seyi Akinwunmi: 12 votes

• Shehu Dikko: 6 votes

• Idah Peterside: 1 vote

• Ciroman Abba Yola: 1 vote

• Dr. Christian Emeruwa: 0

• David-Buhari Doherty: 0

Interestingly, before the re-run, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi and Alhaji Shehu Dikko stepped down for Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau.

For the re-run, according to the electoral committee, any contestant with at least one vote is eligible to contest in the re-run. Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau had 39 votes, while Idah Peterside recorded just one vote, hence, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau was announced as winner and the new NFF President. Before the election, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau worked in the Federation as Chairman of all FA Chairmen and Zamfara FA Chairman.
