Shooting Stars 2-0 Enyimba: Moses, Emmanuel Goals Shot Down Elephants

By Tosin Omojola - Omoduemuke Moses scored his first goal fir tge team and Emmanuel Lucky netted his third as Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan romped to a 2-0 win over Enyimba FC of Aba.

The Oluyole Warriors ensured the all important maximum points were secured as the duo found the back of the net in the first half to earn the Ibadan soccer lords a well deserved win.

Coming from a 1-3 loss to Katsina United last Wednesday, the Oluyole Warriors came into the matchday 25 encounter with determination to carry the day.

The Edith Agoye tutored lads dominated the proceedings right from the blast of the referee's whistle but had to wait till the 13th minute to find the cutting edge through Omoduemuke Moses, who slotted in the ball after an Enyimba defender had deflected enterprising Malomo Taofeeq's shot.

The Finidi George tutored Elephants fought back, trying to level up but the 3SC defenceline of Ezeh Chidera, Anaekwe Ebuka, Ezeala Uche and Adekunle Adeniyi, stood their ground, while goalkeeper Ogundare Detan, produced sparkling saves to deny visitors.

Dare Olatunji, who was later replaced by Isiaka Mutiu due to a. muscle pull, led the trio of Anietie Uko and Gali Falke in ensuring that the visitors did not have the control of the middle, while Malomo, who wore the skippers's band for the second consecutive home game, tormented the Peoples Elephants defence, alongside, Emmanuel and Moses.

Two goal hero in the homers' 3-0 win over Lobi Stars in matchday 23, Emmanuel Lucky was on hand to bury the ball in the 40th minute, after pouncing on a pass by Omoduemuke Moses, who benefitted from a miss kick by a defender of the Peoples' Elephants to locate the scorer.

The Ibadan soccer lords, cheered by their vociferous supporters, took the two goal cushion to the break, to the admiration of their elated fans.

The second half saw the Peoples' Elephants coming out to change the face of the game but they met a stiff opposition in the Oluyole Warriors, who pressed for more goals but were not that lucky to increase the tally.

Malomo Taofeeq, who was a thorn in the flesh of the visitors could have hit the back of the net on two different occasions but was denied by Enyimba's goalkeeper.

The introduction of Ewenike Achibi and Ayo Adejubu for Gali Falke and Omoduemuke Moses as well as the duo of Sochima Elum and

Opeoluwa Olufemi who came on for Emmanuel Lucky and Malomo made positive impacts on the host.

Ayo Adejubu almost hit the target few minutes after coming in but the visitors's goalie denied him, punching the left footer's shot out for a corner kick.

Although Enyimba made some occasional forays into the Oluyole Warriors' goal area, as they attempted to reduce the deficit, it was the Ibadan soccer lords who had the most chances to add to their lead but could not, until the referee blew the final whistle after the expiration of the four added minutes.

The win takes the point haul of Shooting Stars to 33 points from 25 matches and the Oluyole Warriors look forward to a favourable result when they face Sunshine Stars in a matchday 26 tie in Akure.
