Kwara United Picks First Point on the Road Against Abia Warriors

Kwara United Football Club this evening forced Abia Warriors to a one-all draw at the Okigwe Township Stadium, Imo state, in the Matchday Four of the 2021/2022 NPFL, to pick their first away point of the season.

The home team drew the first blood in the very first minute of the game, through Godwin Obaje, who pocked home a corner kick from the right.

It took Kwara United FC some times to wake up from the reality, as poor marksmanship and inaccurate passes almost cost them another goal, and as they did, Abia Warriors retrieved, and launched occasional counter attack.

Kwara United FC came in more determined in the second half, dictating the wave of the game, even though they lacked the cutting edge to get the needed equalizer.

Kwara United FC made two changes, Ayobami Junior coming in for Kabir Balogun, and Adebambo Ademola coming in for Samad Kadri, with the changes further pilling pressure on the home team.

Much later, Chinedu Udeagha was brought in for Stephen Jude, to ensure more depth and aggressiveness, and this paid off, as Adebambo nodded home Muritala Lawal's pull-out from the left, at the 88th minutes.

With the win, Kwara United FC now have seven points from four matches, and will host Rangers FC of Enugu in a Matchday Five encounter on Sunday in Ilorin.

Coach Abdullahi Biffo praised his players for rising up to the massive challenge, despite conceding an early goal.

With few minutes left to play, he introduced Jide Williams as replacement for the young, energetic and highly enterprising Chisom Samuel, who was almost everywhere on the field of play.

While lamenting that his team conceded an early goal which forced them to play catch-up, he said that if his team had gotten the equalizer early, he would have won the game.

For Coach Imama Amapakabo, he said that his team failed to take numerous advantages off the chances created to increase the tally especially in the first half.

Even as he expected disappointment with the draw, Coach Imama said that there are plenty rooms to make adjustments, describing the league as a marathon.
