By Emmanuel Oladele - It's now obvious that Saudi Club Al Shabab deliberately refused to release Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Odion Ighalo for AFCON, the matter has so far generated so much controversies among NFF, CAF, Super Eagles' fans and Al Shabab.
Latest update from top Nigerian Sport Journalist Tobi Adepoju revealed that Ighalo's contract has a clause that he won't honour national team tournament.
"My source told me the issue with Ighalo and his club; his contract had a clause that he won't honour national team tournament.
According to my source, NFF & CAF are discussing with the club and will conclude today. Ighalo might miss out," Adepoju concluded.
The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, holds between January 9 to February 6, 2022 in Cameroon and Nigeria are in Group D alongside; Egypt, Guinea-Bissau and Sudan. The Super Eagles first game will be against Egypt on Tuesday 11th January, 2022, 17:00 Nigeria Time (+1 GMT).
