By Tosin Omojola - Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, are going into Sunday's NPFL matchday one game against host, Gombe United, optimistic of a positive result.
The Oluyole Warriors, who arrived Gombe for the clash of the elite league returnees on Friday afternoon, are fully prepared to kick start their premier league return on a good note.
Coach Edith Agoye and his lieutenants are expected to unleash a killer squad on the Savannah Scorpions when both sides file out for the match at the Gombe Stadium, Pantami.
The last time both sides clashed on the same pitch was in 2017, with both teams sharing the spoil, after the encounter ended one goal apiece.
The most recent meeting between the duo, was the 2021 Aiteo Cup second round game played in Lokoja, in which Gombe United emerged victors via penalty shootout, after they battled to a goalless draw in regulation time, in a game largely dominated by 3SC.
After Saturday's training, some of the players of the Oluyole Warriors, expressed their readiness to start the season on a winning note, promising to go for the kill against the host on Sunday, even though they admitted that it will not be an easy game.
Meanwhile, Team Manager of the team, Dimeji Lawal (MON), while addressing the players before the commencement of Saturday's training, urged them to be disciplined and also avoid any form of distractions throughout the 90 minutes.
"I want you to know that the battle starts now and for us to get what we want, we must be disciplined and avoid all forms of distractions, which could cause loss of concentration.
"If we can do this, with what we have on ground and with our preparations, we will surely prevail", added Kabongo, as the ex international is widely known.
