By Emmanuel Oladele - Two times CAF Champions League winners, Enyimba have officially appointed former Super Eagles forward Finidi George as their new head coach, following the departure of coach Fatai Osho after the expiration of his contract in August.
The former Real Betis and Ajax forward signed a 2-year contract with the eight times Nigerian League Champions.
Finidi George speaking to Enyimba's media after his appointment, "I have to say it's a great opportunity for the club to have this confidence in me. I want to thank the Chairman, the members of the board, and the supporters for even thinking about me. On my own part, I will be here to just work and do the job. It's never going to be easy but I'm here to work and make the team win."
The 50-year-old made 62 appearances for the Nigeria Super Eagles in 15 years of his spell with the National Team. He was part of the 1994 victorious Super Eagles that conquer Africa. He was also with the team at the 1994 FIFA World Cup and the 1998 edition.
At club level, he played for Ajax, Real Betis, RCD Mallorca, and Ipswich Town. He was part of Ajax squad that won the UEFA Champions League in 1995.
His first game for the People's Elephants will be the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round game against Diambers FC of Senegal in October.
