Chelsea ends FC Porto hope of lifting another Champions League Trophy

By Emmanuel Oladele - FC Porto hope of lifting another Champions League trophy was ended on Tuesday night at Sevilla by Chelsea.

Recall that Porto won the UEFA Champions League in 1987 (as European Cup) and 2004. The Portugal based team were hoping to lift another Champions League trophy, but were handed a massive setback by Chelsea in the quarterfinal, following a 2-1 aggregate scoreline.

The Blue and Whites were handed a 2-0 defeat in the first leg, though won the second leg on Tuesday with 1-0, but was not enough to cancel the 2-0 deficit they had in the first leg, hence, sending them out of the 2020/21 Champions League.

FC Porto have so far done well in the tournament, coming out of Group C which has Manchester City, Marseille and Olympiacos. They entered into the quarter-final where they sent Italian Giants Juventus packing from the competition.

On Tuesday night, Chelsea edged Porto to move into the semi-final, but not a bad outing for the Portuguese side, FC Porto.
