Senegalese Goalie Caught Using Juju in a Football Match

By Olamide Oyetunji - There is nothing new under the sun when it comes to African football as the continent is known for the production of some outstanding talents over the years.

With the arrays of stars that have toured the world with their contemporaries, African footballers are known for skills, physical strength, hardwork and fitness while some few are feared to be superstitious.

A certain Senegalese Goalkeeper Baye Cisse was allegedly spotted putting an object (juju) behind his goal before his club Tuengeth's Caf Champions League match against Esperance in Tunisia.

According to reports, the custodian summoned the gods of African football with his pre-match ritual that saw him dropped a whitish object behind his goal line.

After the tension of superstition, Senegalese side Teungueth embraced their opportunity in the spotlight by grabbing the opening goal.

But they ultimately came up short, losing 2-1 to Tunisian powerhouse Espérance to start Group D proceedings in the CAF Champions League.

Baye Cisse and Teungueth held off some attacks from the heavy favorites before getting comfortable and generating a couple of their own attacks but they couldn't come out with any point.
