WAFU U-17: Lucky Golden Eaglets of Nigeria are through to the semi-final

By Emmanuel Oladele - The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria are through to the semifinal of the WAFU U-17 tourney, thanks to Côte D'Ivoire 3-1 victory over Ghana which earned the young eagles a semi-final spot.

The Fatai Amoo led side were lucky to have made it to the Semi-final, a draw would have sent the Ghanaians to the semifinal and the eaglets would have crashed out.

Recall the eaglets lost their first game to Côte D'Ivoire by 1-0 before playing a 1-1 draw with Ghana.

Côte D'Ivoire after 2 games had 6 points, Nigeria and Ghana have one point each, but Nigeria are better in terms of goal difference. Nigeria scored one goal and conceded just two goals while Ghana scored two and conceded four after all the two group games. Nigeria with -1 goal difference, while Ghana had -2.

Côte D'Ivoire and Nigeria qualified from group B as Ghana crashed out.
